About Stainless Steel 316/316L/316Ti CNC Component

Stainless steel is a popular material for many different applications due to its excellent corrosion resistance, strength, and durability. One type of stainless steel that is commonly used is known as DIN 1.4401, also referred to as grade 316 or AISI 316. This grade of stainless steel is particularly popular for use in marine, food processing, and chemical processing applications.

UNS S31600 is an alloy of iron, carbon, and chromium. The addition of molybdenum (Mo) to the alloy improves its resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion in chloride-containing environments. While stainless steel 316 is not fully stain-proof, it is highly resistant to staining and discoloration.

UNS S31603 is a low-carbon version of SS 316. This version of stainless steel is often used in applications where welding is required, as it is more resistant to intergranular corrosion than regular 316 stainless steel. DIN1.4404 has a lower carbon content than 316 stainless steel, which results in a lower risk of carbide precipitation during welding.

UNS S31635 is a titanium-stabilized version of 316 stainless steel. The addition of titanium to the alloy improves its resistance to intergranular corrosion and makes it more suitable for high-temperature applications. DIN 1.4571 has the same corrosion resistance as regular 316 stainless steel, but it can be used at higher temperatures without the risk of intergranular corrosion.
