About Hastelloy X/C4/C22/C276 Pipe & Tube

Hastelloy is a family of nickel-based alloys known for their exceptional corrosion resistance in harsh environments. These alloys are commonly used in various industrial applications due to their high strength and resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion, and stress corrosion cracking. Hastelloy X is a nickel-chromium-iron-molybdenum alloy that offers high resistance to corrosion in oxidising environments. This grade is commonly used for applications that require good creep and oxidation resistance. Hastelloy C4 is a nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloy that offers excellent resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion in chloride-containing environments. It is commonly used in chemical processing and petrochemical applications.

Hastelloy C22 is a nickel-chromium-molybdenum-tungsten alloy with superior resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion, and stress corrosion cracking. This grade is commonly used in applications that require resistance to chloride-containing environments and organic compounds. Hastelloy C276 is a nickel-chromium-molybdenum-nickel alloy that offers excellent resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion in harsh environments. It is also resistant to stress corrosion cracking and is commonly used in applications that require high resistance to oxidizing environments. Hastelloy pipes and tubes can be manufactured as either seamless or welded. Seamless pipes are formed by hot working a solid billet and are generally more expensive than welded pipes. Welded pipes are formed by welding flat plates or sheets of Hastelloy into a cylindrical shape. Electric resistance welding (ERW) is a common method for manufacturing welded Hastelloy pipes.

Each grade of Hastelloy offers unique properties that make it suitable for specific applications. The grade choice will depend on the application’s specific requirements and the environment’s operating conditions.
